A local – who gets things done.
My name is Ingo Jäger. I grew up in Vahrenwald-List, went to Comenius and Leibniz school here, and my son grew up here too. By profession I am a mechanical engineer (Dipl.-Ing.).
I have served on the district council since May 2023 – independent since 2024. Shaping this district is not a career move for me but a matter close to my heart: close to residents, independent, and answerable only to my conscience.
Why I do this.
"Vahrenwald-List is my home. I grew up here, my son grew up here. Politics is not a career for me – it's a matter close to my heart."
I am not a career politician. As a mechanical engineer I am used to looking closely, doing the maths and solving problems. That is exactly what I bring to the district council: safe streets, affordable housing and respectful coexistence – no matter where someone comes from.

From Bonifatiusplatz to the Lister Meile: this is where I live and where I get things done – for a district where everyone feels safe and welcome.
This is what I stand for.
Three areas, one principle: politics for everyone – regardless of origin, faith or income.
Social security
Because no one should fear falling through the cracks.

What I have achieved.

Green-arrow review at every junction
Passed unanimously. 21 junctions reviewed, 9 green arrows implemented.
First public bicycle repair station in the district
Unanimous – an example of pragmatic willingness to compromise.
Joint resolution against racism
Initiated by me, brought in across party lines, passed unanimously.
Climate-adaptation strategy for the district
Passed unanimously – precaution against heat and heavy rainfall.
Redesign of Bonifatiusplatz
Joint motion, unanimous – cooperation across all parties.
Three years of work – verifiable, point by point.
Every entry is based on public motions and council minutes. Green means: passed unanimously. Dark means: submitted by me. Several purely factual motions were blocked for political reasons – I document this openly.

Human rights are indivisible.
At the end of 2023 I made a statement at the Holocaust Memorial: "Free Palestine means fighting Antisemitism!" – an appeal against antisemitism and against forgetting. For me, human dignity is unconditional: in Vahrenwald-List and everywhere.
Instead of a response, a political blockade followed: since then, the established parties have rejected even purely factual motions of mine – a pedestrian crossing at the hospital, a memorial for homeless people. The Council of Europe and the UN have explicitly criticised this restriction of freedom of expression.
I did not let myself be intimidated.
My goals for the next term.
Life must stay affordable
Against displacement and rising rents in the district – despite cutbacks from above.
Not forgetting the homeless
Open emergency shelters during extreme weather, realise the memorial for our homeless residents.
De-seal surfaces
Draw the consequences from extreme weather: more infiltration, safe refuges for the more vulnerable in our society.
Live internationality
The diversity around Vahrenwalder Platz is a treasure – support projects that bring people together.
Strengthen peace education
No easy access for Bundeswehr recruitment at our schools. Promote peace education.
Take international law seriously
International law applies locally too: taking the findings of the International Court of Justice (South Africa v. Israel) and the UN Commission of Inquiry seriously – at the municipal level as well.
Reduce plastic waste
Launch concrete projects for waste reduction and awareness in the district.
